This pendant depicts a seahorse on one side, and a mermaid on the reverse.

The Seahorse is a younger cousin to Sea Dragons in Chinese culture. As a result, they honored the Seahorse giving it the symbolic value of good fortune and fortitude. As in Greece and Rome, sailors valued a Seahorse charm to safeguard them.

Mermaids have certain symbolic meanings such as connection to water, femininity, transformation, etc. They are also often seen as a symbol of good luck in seafaring. Mermaid tattoos and jewelry can represent all of these meanings or take on a personal meanin

This is a large medallion which measures:
1 1/4 inch in diameter, made in white bronze, and oxidized for contrast.
